摘 要：

This is a talk on economic research touching the issues of economic reality, measurement, reasoning, and causal inference. The purpose of this talk is to inform and share with the broader audience what is involved in economic research based on the speaker’s own experience in a field study, economic theories, statistics/econometrics, and causal inference. In all four areas mentioned above, the speaker will show examples and published work from a field survey in rural China, to a theoretical economic work that decomposes the Sen’s poverty index, to a theoretical econometric/statistical work on economic measurement, to the evaluation of the impact of a monetary policy or an investment style, to a causal inference on the impact of the circuit breakers in China.

主讲人简介：

徐宽教授在加拿大康可迪亚大学获得工商管理硕士、经济学博士，现为加拿大达尔豪斯大学经济系（Department of Economics， Dalhousie University）教授。他曾任多伦多大学、清华大学、中国人民大学、北京交通大学、中国人民银行研究生院（五道口）等大学和研究机构的访问教授，并在联合国世界发展经济研究机构、加拿大中央银行等机构担任高级顾问。其主要研究领域为金融经济学、计量经济学、宏观经济学及收入分配和公共政策等。
